The Comeback-It's not too late and you're never too far by Louie Giglio

This book!! I read this book in under a week and it only took that long because I had many other obligations during that week.  The author, Louie Giglio, Pastor of Passion City Church has written a very real, raw, authentic book that weaves personal stories, including his own and his family's with scripture stories.  The book is an encouragement to never give up, no matter where you have been, what you have done or what has happened to you or is currently dominating your life. The stories in this book are not sugar coated nor is it a book that promises a fairy tale ending.  If you have lived life for any length of time, you are well aware of the mix of joy and pain and the heartache that can come in a blink of an eye with one phone call.  But Louie Giglio shares so brilliantly in this book that because of Jesus, we can always comeback.  It may not be a quick recovery, but there is always a recovery.  And even when there is no "apparent recovery", there is always the promise of tomorrow and ultimately for those who believe, the promise of being with Jesus in eternity.

Personally, my favorite chapter in the book is entitled Breakfast on the Beach.  Its a chapter on the disciple Peter and his restoration by Jesus.  To give you a taste for the book, listen to a paragraph from this chapter:

"After a long night of nothing, after we fail him, this the sum total of what we're going to hear from him:  "Good morning.  Come, have breakfast with me.  I've got a fire going with some tasty barbecued fish and fresh warm bread, just like you like it.  Come, sit down and eat with me, have fellowship with me.  Let me feed you and provide for you what you need for this day to come.  I am the breakfast for you because I am life and strength for you.  I'm grace for you. I'm power for you.  I'm mercy for you.  I'm everything you need. I'm here, and I've got it all prepared.  Would you like some breakfast?"

Notice the conversational tone to the book.  Yet, notice the power and grace that is shared. We all need to be reminded that Jesus is waiting to have breakfast today, no matter what!  We can comeback!!  What a beautiful word.
