Heart Wreath

Heart Wreath

Using pre-cut strips of muslin cloth, a wreath form, and some imitation jewels, we will make a wreath. We will spend time with scripture in a lectio divina format, looking at what God says about our hearts and then we will attempt to discern what is binding our hearts (making us hard hearted) and what is needed to release them to the fullest. Or we may discover that our hearts are broken and we need healing and to have our wounds bound.

(Psalm 147:3- He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds).

February or Lent would be an excellent time for this class.

Hope Canvas

We will make an 8 X 10 canvas with the background of words or newspaper headlines or magazine clippings to depict the many things that are going on in the world and then we will make birds on a wire with the word Hope.  We will spend time in scripture with verses of God’s promises of Hope and how God takes care of the birds and us.  We will discern God’s voice personally in the areas of our lives where we need hope.  Each bird will be created with colors and patterns of our choice.  The class fits in well with Spring or Easter and the promise of new growth and new life.

Prayer Collage

Prayer Collage allows us to tap the inner yearnings or depths of our hearts and bring them to God.  As we prayerfully collage, we listen for what God is speaking into our lives.  The first part of the class is spent hearing God through scripture and then we listen to God as we cut out our images and words and arrange them on a canvas to make our collage.  After our collage is finished, we will spend time reflecting on what we’ve created with a few prompting questions.

Angels Wings

The class is centered around Psalms 91:11-For He will give His angels orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.  We will spend time listening to God and His promises of protection looking at our lives and the areas we need protected and do or do not feel protected.  Honest dialog with God via journaling is always encouraged as privacy is honored.  We will then create an 8 x 10 canvas depicting angels wings using paint, scrapbook paper and glue.

Tears in a Bottle

This class is based on Psalms 56:8:  The God of all comfort keeps watch over your weeping.  He gathers up all of your tears and puts them in His bottle.  We will also listen to other scriptures on God’s response to those who were crying out to Him or weeping in the bible and discern which account or accounts we can relate to regarding our tears.  We will then create a bottle for our tears, decorating it as we desire with washi tape, yarn, beads and tassels.  While creating, we will also be spending time with God, noticing our body’s responses and hearing His voice.
